I found one of these leaf bugs in our bathroom this morning. You have to know how much i dislike bugs in the first place to really see why i am posting this. I have always been one that doesn't like anything that flys or crawls and is part of the insect family. Insects and I don't get along. Then to find this in my bathroom this morning when i was getting ready. Agh!!!!!!!!! I still don't know how it got inside the house. That thing made it all day in the upstairs bathroom and i finally got rid of it tonight when our son was screaming that the bug was still in there and mom-killer of leaf bug- got rid of it. It took all i had to actually smack that thing.:)So now the saga of the big green bug is over and we can all go back to our regular life.:)

first day of school

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

We are back in the full swing of school today. All of the kids went today. Our high school started last week, which included two of my kids. This week the other two went. They only have to go til 11:00 and then the rest of the week it is 2:00. Crazy hours i know. Our youngest was the only one that was excited to go this morning.Probably because he is in first grade and still enjoys going;P. The girls know what school really consists of. They don't get to paint, play at recess or play with playdough any more. I really enjoy when school starts b/c my days are alot quieter and any mom knows how nice quiet can be;). In the craziness of this morning i forgot to get pictures but will take some tomorrow and post the smiling faces getting ready to go to school.

Corn maze

Has anyone ever gone through a corn maze????Yes, this is an actual corn field. We go here every year during the fall. Our favorite season is fall with the start of school and the cooler weather. I love the smell of fall, especially in the morning when it is nice and cool. I also love the fall colors of the leaves.
This corn maze is at a smaller apple orchard not that far away from where we live. They plot out the picture they want every year and people really enjoy trying to get through the maze. They have a sheet with questions on it and if you answer the question right you will go the right way to get out of the maze. They also have flashlight night where you can only bring your flashlight to guide you through the maze at night. The favorite of our kids is around Halloween when they have the scary maze. Half of the maze has no one jumping out at you but the second half is scary. They only do that close to Halloween though. It is a lot of fun. Can't wait to go this year.

Thirteen things we have to do to get ready for school

1. Go shopping for whatever is needed before school(and with 3 teenagers in the house you have to be careful how you phrase that statement)
2. Buy school clothes(you know they seem to grow 2-3 inches every year and nothing ever fits right:)Hopefully we are done with the growing soon:)
3. Go to schools and make sure the kids know where their classes are
4. Meet the teachers
5. Buy....many pairs of tennis shoes b/c the school wants you to have 2 pairs each:)
6. Make sure there is plenty of lunch meat snacks chips etc.......
7. Start early bed time for the younger of the kids(my favorite time):)
8. Get sports physicals
9. Make sure everyone gets enough sleep so we will keep to getting up early for school schedule
10.Set clothes out the night before.
11.Make sure everything is in the backpacks before they leave so mom doesn't get the phone call saying "I forgot...... can you bring it to school for me?"
12.Keep on the kids to get their homework done before they watch tv or play game cube or get online-the last one is a BIG one around here
13.Pray that we make it through another year without too many probelms.

our little superman

Three years ago we were approached by this little man's grandma about adopting him. We had had him in my daycare since he was about 11/2 years old. We weren't sure how to take the news since our kids were in their teens and we weren't ready to raise another child.
We ended up adpoting him in August of 2003 and we have had our ups and downs with raising another child but we are,by the grace of God,making it through. I had a really hard time with the first few months having him here. I think since he took so well to dad,it made me a little jealous. I had that bonding process with the girls but not with him which made it harder to get to know him on a family level. Don't get me wrong i love the little guy,but it has taken a while to get to know him.
This fall he is going into the first grade and is very excited about it. Can't believe how fast kids grow up. We have a senior, freshman, and also an eighth grader this year. Makes me sad to see them grow up so quickly but i love to see how they have blossomed into such wonderful kids.
