1. What kind of automobile do you drive?
I have a 2006 Ford Freestar and i love driving it.

2. What kind of automobile do you WISH you drove?
Right now i am happy with what we have but for fun would like to have a convertible:)

3. When is the last time you bought a vehicle (new or used)?
Last August.

4. What is your color of choice as far as vehicles go?
Dark blue, maroon, or dark green.

5. Do you regularly have your oil changed?
Yes especially since it is a newer car.

6. How long do you generally keep a vehicle before thinking about buying a new one?
We at least will keep this one until it is paid off.

7. What kind of automobile will you buy next?
Not sure but i know this will probably be the last minivan we get since the kids are getting older now.

Busy, busy, busy

Haven't been posting much lately because real life has taken over:)My daughter has had her friend from Ohio here for the last week and we have been entertaining them all week,what with work and school going on too. It is amazing how much more you do with just one more person in the house. We have had a great time this week but man am I ready for the kids' spring break!!!! It starts on Monday and it will be really nice to just be able to wake up and do whatever instead of the same old rush out the door to school. It will be nice to have extra help here at the house too.
It is suppose to be warm this week finally!!!! I am soooo ready for warmer weather. I have had enough of the snow and cold. We have not had to wear our winter coats at all this last week which is wonderful!!! Spring is my absolute favorite time of the year!!!

Monday Madness

1. How many times do you wake up during the night?
Most of the time none but lately I have been waking up a couple of times at night.

2. On an average, how many hours of sleep do you try to get?
I try to get at least 8 hours of sleep.

3. What day of the week do you do your "major" housecleaning?
The only day i can do "major" house cleaning is on Saturdays and sometimes we are so busy i can't even get it done then:P

4. How often do you move your furniture to clean behind it?
I try to get it done at least a couple of times a month-just got it done this weekend.Yeah!!!

5. Do you do your dishes by hand or do you own a dishwasher?
I do the dishes by hand. We have 3 other dishwashers but they are all broke(aka our daughters)haha:)

It is suppose to be 72 degrees today. YEAH!!!! We are going to be spending most of today outside,so will catch up on all the blogs later today. See ya!

Hope everyone remembered to change their clocks forward since it was three weeks earlier this year. Maybe that means warmer weather sooner,huh???:)

I depends what the advice is about. If it is about the kids i watch i have no problem helping out the parents with their issues. On other subjects i may not be so knowledgeable in i won't offer too much advice.

I would have to say the first time i went to a restaurant that threw the rolls at you. Can't remember the name of the restaurant but i remember it was quite different but fun.

What's the most unusual hobby you have? How did you get started with it?
Right now I don't have time for hobbies. Too busy raising our family.

How many different kinds of music do you listen to? Name a few favorites, if you please.
I love music of all kinds. Contemporary Christian, Classical, even some of the songs our teens like:)

Do you take advantage of the outdoor areas where you live? What's your favorite thing to do outside? What's your favorite local bird?
We love to go the parks here in town. Since i watch kids we definitely take advantage of the parks. It lets them run off all that energy pent up inside of them during the winter months. Hehe.

Children: Do you have any?
Yes we do have children. Four of them. Ages 17, 15, 13, and 7. Yes i am a very busy mom.

What is your favorite part of spring
ALL OF IT!!!! Spring is my absolute favorite season. I love the birds singing the warmer weather and the smells of spring.

Only when i am mad..:)

2. Does it bother you when other people use all caps in their messages?
not really unless they do it constantly.

3. Do you use abbreviations (i.e. lol, brb, etc.) when typing email messages or text messages?
Yes i do. It is much easier than spelling out the whole word.

4. Do you ever receive faxes or other correspondence from a professional office that are typed in all caps? If so, what do you think of that?
Don't have a fax machine and don't receive anything from any professional office.

5. Do you rely on the computer program to catch your typing errors, or do you proofread your material before sending it out?
I do love spell check but i also proofread everything i type before sending it out.

TWIRP Dance 2007

Last night was suppose to be the kids' twirp dance-which means the woman is responsible to pay. Anyway, we were getting everyone ready for the dance and meanwhile we are under a severe blizzard/ice storm warning. Does anyone think of cancelling the dance??? Nope. We even called the superintendent of the schools and he said they don't plan on cancelling. How STUPID!!!!! One of our daughters went b/c she was determined to go.(Once she gets an idea in her head she DOESN'T like to change) but our other daughter stayed home with her date and we watched movies and had pizza. We did get pictures of the couples before the dance. They all looked very nice but were making me freeze:)
**UPDATE*** They closed the dance after they had been there for 2 hours and everyone made it home fine.

We went to a Valentine's Banquet on Saturday with our new church. It was at the Elderberry Tea House. Very nice place. We had the whole resteraunt to ourselves. They served lasagna, salad, texas toast and dessert. Then we had a few skits, some solos and a short message. We had a great time.
Yesterday was church of course, and then the girls wanted to go to the mall. Our youngest wanted to buy her boyfriend a gift for his birthday. We found out yesterday that he is going to be visiting in a few weeks. He doesn't live near us. Ought to be interesting while he is here:).
Today my hubby left for Atlanta Georgia (work related) not for fun. If it was for leisure i would've been going with him!!! They send him to this fancy hotel for a couple of days and he gives a presentation and the rest of the time is his for whatever he wants to do. One of these days i am going to go with him. It has a winery right there by the hotel and his room has a spa in it. I will trade him jobs any day. Ha ha.

Friday Feast # 130

Appetizer - Have you been sick yet this winter? If so, what did you come down with?
Yes, I have!!Started out with a cold and since Dayquill has taken out the main ingredient to help you get better...I got Bronchitis. Am feeling much better now.

Soup - What colors dominate your closet?
Lots of blues and greens

Salad - How would you describe your personal "comfort zone"?
I don't like people to get "in my face" when they talk to me. Especially if i don't know them very well.

Main Course - On which reality show would you really like to be a contestant?
I don't think i would like to be on any of the reality shows. I have watched a few of them and I like to keep my personal life private, not out there so everyone in the world can see me.


Dessert - Which holiday would you consider to be your favorite?
That one is hard. I like them all. Christmas is fun because I get to buy things for the people i love and watch them open gifts. Valentine's is right around the corner and that is fun b/c my hubby takes our girls out for lunch for the traditional "daddy daughter dates" and they get a chocolate rose from him-they just love that. Of course we go out later that night. Lots of fun.

Back to normal....

Well, the kids went back to school today and i went back to work. Now my hubby has got what i have had so guess more antibiotics. Just wish we could get through the winter and get spring here as fast as possible. Have a full house of kids today and most of them are getting cabin fever. We need a warm day to go outside:) or at least a gym of some sort where i can take these boys out to get rid of some of their energy:)
Today is a warm 0 degrees. It is suppose to snow and has already started. We are to get 2-3 inches by tonight. I love to watch the snow fall but do not like driving in it. Just hope it is not getting slick out there.

No School Today

Woke up this morning to check out the news and I was shocked to see that the kids have no school today due to the freezing temperatures. It is -13 degrees right now and not suppose to get much warmer. I was so shocked that the kids were not going b/c their school district does not close unless it is really bad outside. If their principal can get out of his driveway they have school.
I took today off from work b/c of being on cough medicine with codeine. I didn't want to watch kids and fall asleep half way through the day. That would not be good. Now that I have my kids home all day with me it is turning out to be a better day after all. Now i don't have to worry about them being out in the cold and don't have to worry who is going to pick them up since i was sick.

Not feeling well Part 2

Am still fighting off that bad cold which has now turned into bronchitis. This weekend has been nothing but relaxing on the bed and letting everyone else clean up the house and make dinner.
We are of course, watching the Bears play tonight and hopefully they will win. They are off to a great start.
Will get back to regular posting asap. For now i am enjoying my cough medicine:) and resting up.

tournament

Saturday's tournament went really well. Even though our DD's boyfriend didn't compete until the very end of the day, it was very interesting. We have never been to any karate meets or tournaments so it was fun to watch.
Her boyfriend took 2nd place in his division. He is what they call a green/black belt. I think our DD is very safe with this boy around. He could kick anyone's butt that was bothering her:) We got to watch him spar. It is about a 5-7 minute fight and every time they get a point they stop the match.
I really liked watching the 5-6yr old kids. They really got into what they were doing and they were so darn cute. There were 23 rings with something going on in each one. I don't think our DD was upset that her boyfriend didn't do anything until the very end because they got to spend all day together. It was a lot of fun and I am glad we went.

It's been quite a while since i lost my patience. I work really hard on controlling my patience and if i get mad i try to calm myself down before dealing with the situation.

Not going to do WW today. Have come down with the cold from all the kids i watch and it is taking all the energy i have. I would love to call off of work but i know that won' t happen. Am going to load up on Dayquil and send the kids off to school. Have a great day everyone.

I have lots of Christmas songs that i like and play often.... I like Jingle Bell Rock, The Christmas song, I saw mommy kissing Santa Clause...too many to mention

2. Who is the hardest person to shop for on your holiday list?
I'd say my husband. He always says he doesn't want anything b/c we focus more on the kids and what they want.

3.When do you start your holiday shopping?
Depends when the money comes in:)

4.What food or drink do you like when it is cold outside?(Recipes and recomendations,please)
Hot Cocoa and marshmallows, coffee or hot tea. We make lots of soups when it is cold too. Broccoli cheese soup, Chili and crackers, Potato soup or chicken noodle.

5.What do you do to get rid of a cold or flu?
Not much you can do for a cold... Just take some cold medicine and wrap up in a blanket and enjoy some peace and quiet....I wish!!:) The cold medicine part i can do.

6.Do you have a favorite game show announcer?
i guess it would have to be Bob Barker...He has been around for so long and we love watching the Price is Right.

What a day

Well, the snow has come and gone and we got about 1 inch at the most. Now it is the high of 10 degrees and along with the cold weather comes the flu. Our son has stayed home the last two days with some sort of flu. All I will say is, remember that movie Daddy Daycare where the kid comes out of the bathroom and says "I missed?" Well, that really happened. Yes, yesterday was not a really great day. What with a sick child and watching all my boys in the daycare and still recovering from Friday, I'll say I'm glad it is over. Today is much better in the flu area. Luckily no one else has come down with it. I kept him home just one more day
just so he can fully recover and I don't have to be in trouble with
the school just in case something happens. (Sorry if it is too much
information)Well, gotta go get my day started and tame all of my
wild Indians:) They really need some place to go run off all of their
energy. That is one bad thing about winter....my daycare kids
cannot go to the park and run off their energy. I wish I had half
their energy some days. I could clean the house and get every
chore done in about 1 hour. haha

Winter is finally here...

It finally feels like winter here. Woke up this morning and there was snow on the ground. We have only had one snowstorm this year and we are almost thrilled to see it snow again. Usually by now we are tired of snow, but this year we are happy to see it. We are suppose to get 3-5 inches by tomorrrow. The kids are still hoping for a snow day. Will keep you updated. Today I think I am just going to enjoy watching the snow and make some hot chocolate.

taking it easy.........

I wasn't going to be on all weekend since i had oral surgery, but I am feeling a lot better and getting really bored watching tv all day and doing nothing. I can't stand being "under the weather" and nothing getting done. I sit and think about what needs to be done and what I can't do until i get better. Drives me nuts!!! I guess i should enjoy my "time off" but I just like to keep everything going. I know I need to learn to depend on everyone else to get things done every once in a while but man it bothers me.
We are suppose to get a snow storm or wintery mix of things starting tomorrow. Finally some winter weather. I didn't think we were going to see any snow at all. Maybe it will continue into Monday and the kids will have the day off from school to help me with the daycare on Monday. That would be really nice. Especially since i told the daycare parents i would be open on Monday even after the surgery. I know I should have taken an extra day off but we have to have our income and i only have 3 kids that day anyway.
Hope everyone has a great weekend. I am going to veg in front of the tv again since i need to lay down for a while. :P

not so wordless wednesday

I know you aren't suppose to write on "wordless wednesday"
but this is a picture that my daughter took while in Georgia
this summer. They went out on a wave runner and took this
picture. We went out on the same wave runner in the fall and it
was a blast. We didn't get as good of a picture as my dd did but
I loved being able to see the dolphins that close!!!!!!! Just had to
share:)

She will want a cup of coffee to go with it.
She'll pour herself some.
The coffee will get spilled by her three year old
She'll wipe it up.

Wiping the floor, she will find some dirty spcks.
She'll remember she has to do some laundry.
When she puts the laundry in the washer,
She'll trip over some snow boots and bump into the freezer.

Bumping into the freezer will remind her she has to plan for dinner tonight.
She will get out apound of hamburger.
She will look for her cookbook-

The cookbook is sitting under a pile of mail.
She will see the phone bill, which is due tomorrow,

The checkboobk is in her purse that is being dumped out by her two year old,

While she is changing the two year old, the phone rings
Her four year old will answer and hang up.

She'll remember that she wants to phone a friend to come for coffee on
Friday.
Thinking of coffee will remind her she was going to have a cup.
She will pour herself some.

And chances are.........
If she has a cup of coffee......
Her kids will have eaten the muffin that went with it!!!

this one of my three girls. I love this picture!! Sorry it is so blurry. I tried to
get it as clear as possible. In this picture i think they are 6mo, 2 and 4 years
old. Today they are 13, 15, and 17. Time sure does fly. They are growing up to
be beautiful young ladies and I am very proud of them.

School

It's official...The kids have gone back to school. Yes i am glad they are back to their routine. Believe me if they would have stayed home much longer i think all of us would be going crazy right now. They need to have that time at school and time at home. They were getting to the point where they were getting bored. Any moms ever heard that phrase"i'm bored,there's nothing to do here" Now we are all back to our "normal" lives and life just goes on. I know i will be ready for school to end in a couple of months but right now life is good,just me and my daycare kids and nap times....my favorite time of the day.

We usually go to our family's house and play games, talk, eat and stay up all night
and watch Dick Clark on tv at midnight. Nothing fancy just have fun.

We bought a new van. We were going to buy one but bought it
sooner than i expected and i love it;)

Where was your favorite place that you visited in 2006?
Favorite place. hmmm..... Probably Georgia and Florida. We went there this
November and had a great time visiting with family and going to Disney.

What resolution is your top priority for 2007?
Haven't thought about too many resolutions yet but one i am already working
on is going to the gym more and getting into better shape. Also, not eating as much
sugar or bread. Tough to do i know but has to be done for weight loss;)

What food or drink do you love when it's cold out? (Recipes and recommendations please)
I love to have hot chocolate and marshmallows. Also like to have chili and crackers or broccoli and cheese soup.
What do you do to get rid of a cold or flu?
I have tried Zicam for colds and it helps a little. I just try chicken noodle soup and sprite most of the time for flu. Not much you can do but rest as much as possible.

Just thought i would share what my daughter made on the computer. I think she is very good at drawing,especially on the computer. I know i couldn't do this. She is coming up with things all the time. I have even had her make some birthday cards for me. Very nice Katie. Keep up the good work:)

Posting later today since i couldn't get online this am. Had a hard time finding something red this morning but i found a picture of our Santa Sadie:). Isn't she a cutie. I will tell you she was not happy about putting the boots on at all. She probably wore this for about 2 minutes total.

I think it would be Spainish because my two oldest daughters are taking it in high school and i would like to be able to know what they are saying and be able to talk to them.

We were listening to Snoopy's Christmas CD yesterday and a little boy i watch said one of the songs were scary b/c they were oooohing. He said it was a Halloween song instead of Christmas.

Salad:
Which movie was so bad you couldn't watch the whole thing?
Ransom. Did not like that movie at all.

National mom's day off.

There are several that i would like to see but i think i would choose Night in the Museum. Looks really funny.

We saw this in the sky when we were at Disney's Animal kingdom a couple of weeks ago. I thought it was really cool. You don't see that many planes that write in the sky any more(at least I don't)

Monday Madness

Monday Madness
1. I wish people would just be happy.
2.My biggest pet peeve where other drivers are concerned, is stay far enough behind other people so you don't tailgate. I really hate that.
3.I will probably spend about " too much" :) on the holidays this season.
4.I really hope to lose more weight by the end of this calendar year.
5.I make about 2-3 resolutions each year, and keep 1-2 of them.

happy birthday Ricky

Today is Ricky's 7th birthday. Three years ago we thought we were done having kids ,but Ricky's grandma came to us one day after daycare and asked if we would adopt. After lots of thought,we decided to adopt. My hubby finally would have his boy. (we have 3 girls) Ricky is now in first grade and in a wrestling club. He got to go to Disney just two weeks ago for the first time and he really enjoyed it. His favorite ride was the Star Wars ride. He really thought they went to the moon and back home. It was all still magical to him. Everyone there in Disney celebrated his birthday. He got to be on a Disney float at Animal Kingdom, got to be in the final parade act at the Lion King show,and all of our favorite was he had to wear a birthday badge and everyone in the park wished him a happy birthday. He was loving that.

home again

We are finally home. After several of us had the flu on the way home we finally made it.Got here about 11 or so last night after getting up at 1 am that morning and driving straight through. I took off work today so i can get things back to normal. All the kids went to school so that helped:)
We had a wonderful time in Georgia and Florida. The weather finally ended up being warm. Today here at home it is suppose to snow. Yeah!!! I love the first snow.
Will post pictures later. Just wanted to let everyone know we are here and are all fine now.

we're off........

We are leaving tomorrow morning on vacation..Yeah!!!!!! We are going to my parents house for a week and then taking off to Disney. We have been there several times but our youngest has never been there before so it ought to be lots of fun!!! He is REALLY looking forward to going. The girls just like the idea of getting to leave for a while:) since they have been there.
We are driving all the way through to Georgia so it ought to be quite an experience. We told the kids they could stay up most of tonight because then they will sleep while we are driving. Good plan huh? Just hope it works and they are not too wired to sleep. We need a few hours of quiet driving so it won't seem like such a long trip.
Will fill you in with details of the trip and hopefully lots of pictures for you to enjoy.

Haven't been able to blog for a few days because i couldn't get onto blogger. I could get on any other website but not blogger. Oh well, don't really know what happened but we are back,at least for a few more days. We are taking off to Georgia on Saturday. We are traveling all the way through. Ought to be fun:P

Happy birthday Emily

Today is our middle daughter's 15th birthday. Can't believe she is that age already!!! As our tradition goes, on their 15th bday they get to go to Woodfield Mall with some of their friends to go shopping for their bday. They also get to eat dinner at Rainforest Cafe. This is a real fun place to eat.They also get to have a volcano at the cafe-which is a mountain of ice cream and brownies. Yum!!!!!(she is the one in red:)

vacation day???

The kids have today off if we decide it's ok. I know that sounds strange but there was a threatening note given to the high school and another of the elementary schools yesterday and the teachers all called and said if we decided not to send the kids today it wouldn't count against them because of the situation.The schools will all be on lock down but that still doesn't stop someone from doing anything stupid. It is sad that the world has changed so much that you feel afraid to send your own kids to school because of some whacko that wants to scare everyone.
So, today i am letting them sleep in. We decided that they can stay home. I would like the help today with the daycare kiddos anyway:) Besides i may have extra kids if their parents decide to not send them:P
