Busy, busy,busy

Well, we got a lot accomplished this past weekend. Got a lot of the house painted but still quite a bit more to go. We are taking the evening off tonight b/c we have other things to get done-laundry,dishes,cleaning-you know those things you don't really WANT to do but have to:)
Have another interview tomorrow evening for a baby:) Yeah!!! Gotta love those newborn babies. I can't get my fill of them.If any of you don't know-I have a home daycare.
So, I guess painting will have to resume on Wednesday unfortunately. Guess that is how it goes when you have a family and jobs and still are trying to get things done around the house. Never a dull moment here.
Our middle daughter has band camp this week and is enjoying it right now. I will ask her how she is enjoying it by Thursday. This week really tires them out. Especially, since this is the HOTTEST week we've had and they have to be outside all week. She is in the guard and does flags. Can't wait to go to the competitions this fall. Our oldest daughter was in band for all 4 years of high school and is helping with band camp this week. They just can't get away from band i guess:)
Well, I guess I'd better get off of here and get my work done. Hope everyone has had a great start to their week.

Back Home

Am glad to be back home. I enjoyed the time away and was greatly needed but am glad to be back much much more.
We had a really nice time there and the weather co-operated. Not humid at all while we were there. The kids had a good time swimming, fishing, riding on the golf carts and just doing nothing. My hubby was working with his dad the whole time we were there. He really enjoys that though so I guess that was his vacation. They worked on building the campground a pig roaster-which we may be using in September if we go back down there:)
Didn't get to take that many pictures as promised b/c my camera needs a new battery-not just a AA or AAA but a special battery and we keep forgetting to buy one. Ugh!!! We did take a few pictures on my daughter's camera so will have to go through those and see what I can use.
Well,am getting ready for bed soon so will get off here. Just wanted to let you all know we made it back safely and are very happy to be back home again.

Mini vacation

We are leaving for the "promise land" (as my husband calls it)or Missouri this evening after work for a small vacation(which is GREATLY needed) My hubby's parents live there and work at a private campground so we are going to be camping, but camping in style-not the old fashioned tent camping-the nice camper with satellite and bathrooms camping:)We have to pick up our youngest daughter tonight at my sister-in-laws and then off for a 6 hour drive. Just hope our youngest one sleeps b/c he gets awfully cranky if he doesn't.
Hope you all have a great rest of the week and we'll be back on Sunday evening-Will take pictures to share on Monday.

monday madness

1. Do you feel that children these days are disciplined enough?
No, I don't think they are disciplined enough. Kids these days get away with way too much.

2. What are your thoughts about the "time out chair?"
It serves its purpose but there are times when a child needs more discipline than the time out chair.

3. When YOU were a child, what form of discipline did your parents use most often?
We did get spankings as children.

4. Did your parents have to constantly remind you of the guidelines they set for you, or did they just have to LOOK at you as a "gentle" reminder?
Usually just a gentle reminder:)

5. What are your thoughts about screaming kids in public places?
I think the parent should take the child out of the store or wherever they are at the time and deal with the problem they are having

6. What do you feel is the BIGGEST mistake parents make when it comes to disciplining children?
Children are not respectful of adults any more. Parents think that they can be "friends" with their children when they need to be the parent and teach the children what is right and wrong.

Made it through another week

Am still around:) Just not enough time in the day to sit down and blog much. Everyone is over the flu, strep or whatever else we had this weekend:P Only have 2 babies tomorrow so will be an easy day for me at work. Have to travel this weekend instead of painting the house. We had a family member's MIL pass away a couple of days ago and are going to the funeral on Saturday. So, again, it will be a busy weekend for us.
Hope everyone else is well and have a great weekend.

What a weekend......

And it is not even over yet!!! First of all, we took our DD#2 to the dr. yesterday and she has strept throat. Wonderful!!! She is on antibiotics. Then today we went to pick up our DD # 3 and she had a stomach ache when I got there. My sister in law told me that they had had the flu this past week and that may be what she has. Well....she does have the flu and hope it DOESN'T spread to anyone else. Can't afford to lose any days of work!!!!! Ya know, we can't just have one sickness here...it has to be two things. UGH!!!!!
Well, DD#2 is doing better but her boyfriend has it now. DD#3 will see about her later this evening. I think the rest of the weekend is going to be just that-rest for everyone.

More than meets the eye...

We had a great 4th of July. We went to the new Transformers movie. I thought i wasn't going to like it. I was planning on watching License to Wed while the boys went to see it,but I decided to go with them since the times didn't cooperate with our time schedule. The movie was 2 hrs. and 45 min. long but you wouldn't have known it. It turned out to be a pretty good movie. It was not boring at all. Good story and even some funny parts. My favorite "autobot" was bumblebee.
My hubby turned into a little boy while watching this movie. He was as excited as our 7 yr. old son-who I don't think blinked the whole movie!!!! If you have a chance to see this movie-I would. It is quite interesting too watch all the grown men turn into little boys watching transformers come to life.
After the movie we came home and had steaks on the grill. Yum!!!! We don't have steaks too often so this was a treat for us. I also made my family's favorite dessert. It is made from ice cream sandwiches, whipped cream, and hershey's syrup. Perfect dessert for a hot humid day like yesterday.
After dinner we relaxed and then went to see the fireworks. We only had our youngest with us this year which was VERY different. Our oldest had to work, the middle daughter went with her boyfriend to watch fireworks, and our youngest daughter was with her aunt and uncle. Not the same without everyone there.:( All in all we had a great day.

I played!!!

I got a chance to play the Nintendo Wii. Our daughter's friend let them borrow it a couple of nights ago and I got to play. I have been wanting to try it out and it was fun!!! I played tennis, bowling and baseball. You really have to get used to the paddle when you play. It is more physical than you think. Make sure everyone is out of your way when you play:)I did really well on baseball and bowling but tennis-I wasn't very good at. It was hard to figure out when to hit the ball. I think we will be watching the price on these things and maybe get one when it comes down a bit:P

The Fern and the Bamboo

I found this on one of the other websites I visit and thought I would share it with you. Monday Madness is posted below:)

One day I decided to quit everything .. , my job, my relationship, my spirituality..... I wanted to quit my life. I went to the woods to have
one last talk with God.

"God", I said. "Can you give me one good reason not to quit?"

His answer surprised me...
"Look around", He said. "Do you see the fern and the bamboo?"
"Yes", I replied.
"When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care
of them. I gave them light. I gave them water. The fern quickly grew
from the earth. Its brilliant green covered the floor. Yet nothing came
from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo.
In the second year the Fern grew more vibrant and plentiful. And
again, nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo".

He said. "In the third year, there was still nothing from the bamboo
seed. But I would not quit.

In the fourth year, again, there was nothing from the bamboo seed.
But I would not quit.
He said. "Then in the fifth year a tiny sprout emerged from the
earth.
Compared to the fern it was seemingly small and insignificant.

But just 6 months later the bamboo rose to over 100 feet tall. It had
spent the five years growing roots. Those roots made it strong and
gave it what it needed to survive. I would not give any of my creations a
challenge it could not handle."

He said to me. "Did you know, my child, that all this time you have
been
struggling, you have actually been growing roots. I would not quit on
the bamboo. I will never quit on you. Don't compare yourself to
others."

He said. "The bamboo had a different purpose than the fern, yet, they
both make the forest beautiful."

"Your time will come," God said to me. " You will rise high!"

"How high should I rise?" I asked.

"How high will the bamboo rise?" He asked in return.

"As high as it can?" I questioned.

"Yes." He said, "Give me glory by rising as high as you can."

I left the forest and brought back this story. I hope these words can
help you see that God will never give up on you........

Never regret a day in your life.
Good days give you Happiness.
Bad days give you Experiences.
Both are essential to life. Keep going...
Happiness keeps you Sweet,
Trials keep you Strong,
Sorrows keep you Human,
Failures keep you Humble,
Success keeps You Glowing,
But Only God keeps You Going!
Have a great day! The Son is shining!!

God is so big He can cover the whole world with his Love and so small
He can curl up inside your heart.

monday madness

1. Do you do your own laundry or do you send it out?
Unfortunately, I have to do all the laundry. Don't even know if there is a place around here that will do your laundry for you.

2. Do you laundry at your home or a laundromat?
At home. Sometimes I will take it to the laundromat just to get it all done at once.

3. Are there certain articles of clothing that you need to have dry-cleaned on a regular basis?
Just a few things, with kids in the house we try to buy most of our clothes that are washable and not dry clean. We do have some things that have to be dry cleaned though.

4. How often do you do laundry? Is there a certain day of the week that you consider "laundry day?"
Every day is my "laundry day" I don't think there's a day I don't do at least one load.

5. Do you iron your clothes as you pull them out of the dryer or do you wait until just before you wear the clothing to iron?
Iron??? Who has time for that? Haha.

6. Do you hang your clothes outside to dry or do you dry them in a dryer?
I will sometimes use the clothes line but mostly dry them in the dryer.

7. Do you own things that need to be hand-washed or do you try to avoid buying things that you can't wash in the washing machine?
We do have some things that need to be hand washed but mostly we buy washable clothing.Much easier on the budget:)
