Broken

Our washing machine has given up. Guess I would too if I had to do laundry almost every day for 6 people.:) Not sure exactly what is going on with it but I do know I don't like going to the laundry mat!! The only good thing about going there is that I can get a LOT of laundry done at once. We went last night and just washed clothes and brought them home to dry since i still have a dryer. Thank the Lord!!!! When we actually have a weekend to stay home my hubby will look at the washer and see if he can fix it. Can't do much this weekend b/c we are suppose to go to my sister-in-laws to put in a door for them. AGGGHHH!! We haven't had a full weekend home in about 4 weeks. I actually can't wait for school to start b/c I think things will slow down, and school is usually busy around here. That is pretty sad, huh??
Well, gotta get back to the laundry situation. Hope you all are staying cool. I know it is in the 90's again here today.

Busy, busy,busy

Well, we got a lot accomplished this past weekend. Got a lot of the house painted but still quite a bit more to go. We are taking the evening off tonight b/c we have other things to get done-laundry,dishes,cleaning-you know those things you don't really WANT to do but have to:)
Have another interview tomorrow evening for a baby:) Yeah!!! Gotta love those newborn babies. I can't get my fill of them.If any of you don't know-I have a home daycare.
So, I guess painting will have to resume on Wednesday unfortunately. Guess that is how it goes when you have a family and jobs and still are trying to get things done around the house. Never a dull moment here.
Our middle daughter has band camp this week and is enjoying it right now. I will ask her how she is enjoying it by Thursday. This week really tires them out. Especially, since this is the HOTTEST week we've had and they have to be outside all week. She is in the guard and does flags. Can't wait to go to the competitions this fall. Our oldest daughter was in band for all 4 years of high school and is helping with band camp this week. They just can't get away from band i guess:)
Well, I guess I'd better get off of here and get my work done. Hope everyone has had a great start to their week.

Back Home

Am glad to be back home. I enjoyed the time away and was greatly needed but am glad to be back much much more.
We had a really nice time there and the weather co-operated. Not humid at all while we were there. The kids had a good time swimming, fishing, riding on the golf carts and just doing nothing. My hubby was working with his dad the whole time we were there. He really enjoys that though so I guess that was his vacation. They worked on building the campground a pig roaster-which we may be using in September if we go back down there:)
Didn't get to take that many pictures as promised b/c my camera needs a new battery-not just a AA or AAA but a special battery and we keep forgetting to buy one. Ugh!!! We did take a few pictures on my daughter's camera so will have to go through those and see what I can use.
Well,am getting ready for bed soon so will get off here. Just wanted to let you all know we made it back safely and are very happy to be back home again.

Mini vacation

We are leaving for the "promise land" (as my husband calls it)or Missouri this evening after work for a small vacation(which is GREATLY needed) My hubby's parents live there and work at a private campground so we are going to be camping, but camping in style-not the old fashioned tent camping-the nice camper with satellite and bathrooms camping:)We have to pick up our youngest daughter tonight at my sister-in-laws and then off for a 6 hour drive. Just hope our youngest one sleeps b/c he gets awfully cranky if he doesn't.
Hope you all have a great rest of the week and we'll be back on Sunday evening-Will take pictures to share on Monday.

monday madness

1. Do you feel that children these days are disciplined enough?
No, I don't think they are disciplined enough. Kids these days get away with way too much.

2. What are your thoughts about the "time out chair?"
It serves its purpose but there are times when a child needs more discipline than the time out chair.

3. When YOU were a child, what form of discipline did your parents use most often?
We did get spankings as children.

4. Did your parents have to constantly remind you of the guidelines they set for you, or did they just have to LOOK at you as a "gentle" reminder?
Usually just a gentle reminder:)

5. What are your thoughts about screaming kids in public places?
I think the parent should take the child out of the store or wherever they are at the time and deal with the problem they are having

6. What do you feel is the BIGGEST mistake parents make when it comes to disciplining children?
Children are not respectful of adults any more. Parents think that they can be "friends" with their children when they need to be the parent and teach the children what is right and wrong.

Made it through another week

Am still around:) Just not enough time in the day to sit down and blog much. Everyone is over the flu, strep or whatever else we had this weekend:P Only have 2 babies tomorrow so will be an easy day for me at work. Have to travel this weekend instead of painting the house. We had a family member's MIL pass away a couple of days ago and are going to the funeral on Saturday. So, again, it will be a busy weekend for us.
Hope everyone else is well and have a great weekend.

What a weekend......

And it is not even over yet!!! First of all, we took our DD#2 to the dr. yesterday and she has strept throat. Wonderful!!! She is on antibiotics. Then today we went to pick up our DD # 3 and she had a stomach ache when I got there. My sister in law told me that they had had the flu this past week and that may be what she has. Well....she does have the flu and hope it DOESN'T spread to anyone else. Can't afford to lose any days of work!!!!! Ya know, we can't just have one sickness here...it has to be two things. UGH!!!!!
Well, DD#2 is doing better but her boyfriend has it now. DD#3 will see about her later this evening. I think the rest of the weekend is going to be just that-rest for everyone.

More than meets the eye...

We had a great 4th of July. We went to the new Transformers movie. I thought i wasn't going to like it. I was planning on watching License to Wed while the boys went to see it,but I decided to go with them since the times didn't cooperate with our time schedule. The movie was 2 hrs. and 45 min. long but you wouldn't have known it. It turned out to be a pretty good movie. It was not boring at all. Good story and even some funny parts. My favorite "autobot" was bumblebee.
My hubby turned into a little boy while watching this movie. He was as excited as our 7 yr. old son-who I don't think blinked the whole movie!!!! If you have a chance to see this movie-I would. It is quite interesting too watch all the grown men turn into little boys watching transformers come to life.
After the movie we came home and had steaks on the grill. Yum!!!! We don't have steaks too often so this was a treat for us. I also made my family's favorite dessert. It is made from ice cream sandwiches, whipped cream, and hershey's syrup. Perfect dessert for a hot humid day like yesterday.
After dinner we relaxed and then went to see the fireworks. We only had our youngest with us this year which was VERY different. Our oldest had to work, the middle daughter went with her boyfriend to watch fireworks, and our youngest daughter was with her aunt and uncle. Not the same without everyone there.:( All in all we had a great day.

I played!!!

I got a chance to play the Nintendo Wii. Our daughter's friend let them borrow it a couple of nights ago and I got to play. I have been wanting to try it out and it was fun!!! I played tennis, bowling and baseball. You really have to get used to the paddle when you play. It is more physical than you think. Make sure everyone is out of your way when you play:)I did really well on baseball and bowling but tennis-I wasn't very good at. It was hard to figure out when to hit the ball. I think we will be watching the price on these things and maybe get one when it comes down a bit:P

The Fern and the Bamboo

I found this on one of the other websites I visit and thought I would share it with you. Monday Madness is posted below:)

One day I decided to quit everything .. , my job, my relationship, my spirituality..... I wanted to quit my life. I went to the woods to have
one last talk with God.

"God", I said. "Can you give me one good reason not to quit?"

His answer surprised me...
"Look around", He said. "Do you see the fern and the bamboo?"
"Yes", I replied.
"When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care
of them. I gave them light. I gave them water. The fern quickly grew
from the earth. Its brilliant green covered the floor. Yet nothing came
from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo.
In the second year the Fern grew more vibrant and plentiful. And
again, nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo".

He said. "In the third year, there was still nothing from the bamboo
seed. But I would not quit.

In the fourth year, again, there was nothing from the bamboo seed.
But I would not quit.
He said. "Then in the fifth year a tiny sprout emerged from the
earth.
Compared to the fern it was seemingly small and insignificant.

But just 6 months later the bamboo rose to over 100 feet tall. It had
spent the five years growing roots. Those roots made it strong and
gave it what it needed to survive. I would not give any of my creations a
challenge it could not handle."

He said to me. "Did you know, my child, that all this time you have
been
struggling, you have actually been growing roots. I would not quit on
the bamboo. I will never quit on you. Don't compare yourself to
others."

He said. "The bamboo had a different purpose than the fern, yet, they
both make the forest beautiful."

"Your time will come," God said to me. " You will rise high!"

"How high should I rise?" I asked.

"How high will the bamboo rise?" He asked in return.

"As high as it can?" I questioned.

"Yes." He said, "Give me glory by rising as high as you can."

I left the forest and brought back this story. I hope these words can
help you see that God will never give up on you........

Never regret a day in your life.
Good days give you Happiness.
Bad days give you Experiences.
Both are essential to life. Keep going...
Happiness keeps you Sweet,
Trials keep you Strong,
Sorrows keep you Human,
Failures keep you Humble,
Success keeps You Glowing,
But Only God keeps You Going!
Have a great day! The Son is shining!!

God is so big He can cover the whole world with his Love and so small
He can curl up inside your heart.

Unfortunately, I have to do all the laundry. Don't even know if there is a place around here that will do your laundry for you.

Jury Duty ???

Well, I was suppose to be at the courthouse this morning but I called last night(like I was suppose to) and they said if you are panel #24 you do not have to come in tomorrow. I was happy that I didn't have to go in but also disappointed b/c now I didn't have a day off like I was hoping. I do have only one child here today since everyone else already had back up sitters for today. So, we are going to do some things today that I normally don't get to get done.
We have to register the 2 younger girls for high school today. I just can't wait to stand in lines at the high school and wait for them to tell me what else i need to complete my registration.I have everything ready, but the way it usually goes, something goes wrong.:P I'm sorry this is not my favorite time of the year. I don't know why they want them to register soooo soon after school gets out anyway. At least they will get registered two days early. Now all we have to do is get a physical for our freshman and will be done-until it is time to register our youngest who is going to be in 2nd grade this fall. Man, summer flies by way to quick!!!!
Our two oldest girls are getting highlights today. Wish I could go get my hair done!!! I have to wait til everyone else gets theirs done and then mom gets to get her hair cut. At least they are paying for it themselves this time. Gotta love those jobs!!!!:)
Well, better get this day started. Gotta get the kids up out of bed-that ought to be a job in itself:)Maybe will have to bribe them with coffee and breakfast. They stay up way to late during the summer, but you are only young once and I think they should enjoy it while they can. There is only about 8 weeks before they go back to school.

Also, I would give this award to Jennifer at Happy at Home. Jennifer is one of the first bloggers that I met through my mom. She is a very kind person and would love to meet her in person one day. I love reading about her every day happenings at her home.

1. How many times a month/year do you see the sunrise?
Not that often. I do get up early in the morning but not that early:)

2. How many times a week/month do you see the sunset?
I like to watch the sunset, unfortunately where we live you can't see the full sunset from our house so we have to be out somewhere to see the sunset.

3. Do you go out at night and "gaze" at the stars?
I used to go out and look at the stars but now it is only if I am out taking the dog outside.

We have looked for the different stars in the sky at night. We have shown our kids the stars and told them what they were since they were little.

5. Do you look for planets at night (with or without a telescope)?
One time our friend brought out a really nice telescope and we got to see some of the planets that you normally wouldn't be able to see,and the moon looked close enough to touch. That was amazing. The girls still talk about it.

6. Are you able to see the northern lights where you live? If so, about how often do they come around?
If we go about an hour or so north of us you could see them. It has to be just the right time of the year though. Have only seen them once since we have lived here.

7. Do you like going outside during a thunderstorm and watching the lightening?
Not all the time but recently we had a really weird lightening storm and we watched it mostly from indoors since it was getting quite bad but we did go outside for a little bit to see the amazing light show.

8. Do you have any really neat weather pictures? PLEASE, feel free to share them!

This is a picture of a storm coming into town. We got quite a storm that day.

Sleep is good

Well, I finally got a full 8 hours of sleep and boy do I feel better!!! I never realized how much you need that full night of sleep until last night. I had a family for daycare that was suppose to be coming at 5:30 am but never showed up. We called them again last night and no answer. So, last night I decided that I was just going to sleep in. Of course, sleeping in for me means 6:45, but even at that I feel much much better.
Today most of my daycare kids are going to VBS for 3 hours so i can get some things done around the house(if the babies sleep). Haven't been that busy with daycare this week, which is nice to have that break. The kids that have been keeping me busy are my own teenagers. We seem to have someone extra for dinner every night and boy those teenage boys can really put away the food. We call them bottomless pits!!!!:)I don't mind them coming over though. I would rather have them here than not know where they are.
Well, time to get ready for the day. Will have the first set of kids coming in soon. Have a great Wednesday everyone.

Photo Hunt

Am going to be taking a break from photo hunt for the summer. Family comes first before anything else so need to take a break from some things. I will still post on my blog but may be more sporadic than usual. I still visit everyone, just am not going to be on as much. Too much to do this summer and I don't want to miss out on doing things with my family .They are more important than anything!!!!
Enjoy your summer!!!

Thanks for all the birthday wishes everyone. It made my day:) We are celebrating my bday tomorrow evening. Going out for dinner and a movie. We are going to see Fantastic 4-The silver surfer. Hope it is good. Have been wanting to see this one.

Summer time

Can't believe how busy we have been lately. Haven't even had time to blog. I do visit other blogs occasionally but with my busy schedule this summer, I barely have time to breathe:)
We put up our pool today. It was in the 90's and the kids insisted that we put it up. It is an all day job. First you have to blow up the ring on top which is not easy in this hot weather:P then you have to get it situated right and then put the water in it-which takes a LONG time to fill. It is a 4' pool. Just enough depth to keep the kids cool.
Haven't had that many daycare kids this week. Have a couple of families on vacation so that is nice. A little break for me. Yeah!!!
Tomorrow is my birthday. Not looking forward to this one. Am starting a new decade.Out of the 30's now. Yipee-NOT!!! Oh well, guess it is just a number huh??? :) I don't feel that old.
Hope everyone is enjoying their summer. Stay cool!!!

We do it ourselves but sometimes use the vaccuum at the car wash. Much more powerful than our vaccuum.

Dark red.

What a Morning

We were getting ready for the day this morning and our daughter said she saw a bird in the house. We all didn't believe her b/c there is no way a bird could get in the house. Well.... there was a bird and it was very scared and flying all over the house trying to find a way out and escape from being eaten by our cat. Now, just imagine 3 teenage girls, me and our son screaming, yelling doing everything we can to get away from this bird and no man in the house to catch it and get rid of it. I had to open the back doors and the front doors b/c i was told that they will fly out of them if you keep them open.. Not so with this one.
Our cat was on the prowl. She is a really good mouser and so she was in heaven thinking she was going to get a bird for breakfast. In the meantime, I am trying to get our daughters out of the bathroom and get our son to eat breakfast b/c he wouldn't go in the dining room to eat. He ended up eating sporadically in the kitchen. Our oldest daughter was so tickled by the whole thing she was on the floor laughing and crying at the same time. Finally, our daughter's friend came over and got rid of the bird. Thank the Lord b/c today wouldn't be the same trying to get away from a bird.
I do like birds but i DON't like them if they are in my house. They need to stay outside where they were meant to be.:)

It Depends Whose Hands It's In

A basketball in my hands is worth about $19.
A basketball in Michael Jordan's hands is worth about $33 million.
It depends whose hands it's in.

A baseball in my hands is worth about $6.
A baseball in Roger Clemens' hands is worth $4.75 million.
It depends on whose hands it's in.

A tennis racket is useless in my hands.
A tennis racket in Andre Agassi's hands is worth millions.
It depends whose hands it's in.

A rod in my hands will keep away an angry dog.
A rod in Moses' hands will part the mighty sea.
It depends whose hands it's in.

A slingshot in my hands is a kid's toy.
A slingshot in David's hand is a mighty weapon.
It depends whose hands it's in.

Two fish and 5 loaves of bread in my hands is a couple of fish sandwiches.
Two fish and 5 loaves of bread in Jesus' hands will feed thousands.
It depends whose hands it's in.

Nails in my hands might produce a birdhouse.
Nails in Jesus Christ's hands will
produce salvation for the entire world.
It depends whose hands it's in.

As you see now, it depends whose hands it's in.
So put your concerns, your worries, your fears, your hopes, your dreams, your families and your relationships in God's hands because...
It depends whose hands it's in.

Saturday Photo hunt-Childhood

I can't download pictures right now so I thought I would use some of my girls that I already had.Looking back at these pictures I realize how fast their childhood goes. One minute they are babies and the next they are almost adults. Time sure does fly!!! They are not in the same order in the pictures. The two on the ends are switched. Our youngest always seems to be in the middle of the pictures;)

We have a lot coming up for the next month. Our oldest daughter is graduating from hight school and our youngest daughter is graduating from middle school. Our middle daughter graduated from middle school last year. So, this May we have two celebrations but only one party. We are planning a big party at one of the parks here in town.

I try to get on as much as i can since I am addicted to blogging now:)I just looked at my profile and have been blogging now for one year. Yeah!!!! Doesn't seem that long but i have learned alot of things(how to put things on your blog and sidebar) It's a lot of fun figuring things out on your own even:)

A Crazy Week

Well, we found out that our daughter never did have the mumps. The first doctor she went to read the blood tests wrong and told us it was mumps. Then we took her back to the dr. here and he said it was just a swollen gland that caused the infection. So, since i have a daycare home i had to close down until the second blood test came back that said she defintely did NOT have the mumps. I have had no kids here all week, which also means i don't get paid for this week. I really don't want to have to go through this again. This week has been horrible. I have had to tell daycare parents-yes we do have mumps you cannot bring your child and then the next day-oh they called and said she doesn't have the mumps and you can go ahead and bring them. I know these parents are getting confused. I know i was for a while. In the mean time, our daughter was enjoying her days off from school:) They had spring break the week before and since she didn't have a note from the dr. until yesterday(when the 2nd blood tests came back) she had to stay home from school. She was not upset at all. Of course, she only has one day of school this week b/c of Good Friday and Easter, and they also have Monday off for some reason.
I just hope life gets back to normal soon b/c this last week has driven me crazy.

This is no April Fools Joke....

Our youngest daughter has the mumps!!!! We were shocked to find out the news because the mumps have been gone for so many years we didn't think it was possible for kids to get them anymore, but our daugther was visiting her aunt and uncle for spring break last week and Thursday evening she called and said she had a small bump on her neck. I was thinking it was just a sore throat and told her we would come pick her up the next day. Well, they called and that next day her jaw line up to her ear were swollen!! The only thing i could think of was mumps but didn't think she could get it b/c of having the MMR vaccine when she was younger.
We got a call from the hospital last night and they confirmed that it was definitely the mumps and we have to take her back in tomorrow for another blood test to see if they can figure out when she was in contact with it and how long she is contagious.
Poor thing had a rough day on Friday. Swelled quite a bit but has been sleeping a lot which i guess is good for her to help fight of this virus. My hubby keeps teasing her about looking like the "godfather". You have to know my hubby-he likes to tease like that and it is not to be mean or anything-I think that is how he handles situations sometimes. She has a hard time laughing, smiling and especially sneezing-that one is bad:P
Hopefully, we are on the way to getting better. I have to close my daycare for a few days b/c it is a communicable disease and i have to report it to the county. AAAGGHH!I may have to stay closed until we get a clean bill of health from the health department. Just hope she is better soon. She will have to stay out of school all week. They said it could last up to 9 days. Just hope no one else gets them!!!!! I couldn't stand to be quarantined for much longer!!!!!
